  • Treaty of Paris

    Merchants were required to pay a tax of six pence per gallon on imported sugar because of the act.
  • The Stamp Act

    An act that made the colonists pay a tax on every piece of printed paper.
  • The Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act
    An act stating that soldiers would be able to stay in public houses.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    A meeting held in New York, consisting of representatives from the colonies in North America. They discussed a protest against the new british taxes.
  • Declaration of Rights and Grievances

    Declaration of Rights and Grievances
    A document written by the Stamp Act Congress. This document stated that all taxes imposed without their consent were unconstitutional.

    The Stamp Act was repealed on this day. This former act imposed a tax on the stamps for the colonies.

    A battle during the American Revolutionary War. The original objective of both sides was to capture Bunker Hill.
