  • early 1776

    French secretly sent weapons to Patriots. Still very mad and upset with Britain they decided pay back would be to get back at them by siding with the patriots.
  • march 15th 1776

    British seized New york.
  • august 27th 1776

    Washington was out numbered by British soldiers. Michael Graham withdrawal on august 27 1776
  • june 15th 1776

    British made the biggest force with 3200 soldiers
  • Christmas night

    Washington led 2,400 men in small rowboats across the ice-choked Delaware River.
  • December 26

    Washington and 2400 men marched 9 miles in Trenton nj and Hessians were very drunk and hungover and did not have the power to defeat Washington smart plan.
  • december 31st 1776

    8000 men were lost and Washington knew he had to have a victory, if not his men would leave him and go home.
  • january 2nd 1777

    American's took a win after eight days later, stationed at Princeton.
  • spring of 1777

    General Howe planed to seize american capitol in Philadelphia

    British got Philadelphia and General Howe was warmed in great love by loyalist.
  • october 17th 1777

    General Gates surrendered the battle of Saraotga. after that British changed how there war strategy.

    They won the war and looking back they would of never thought they would have made it this far after Winter of valley forge

    After saratoga the french trusted the Americans ad signed an alliance. Saying that the french will be there to help the Americans win this war.They also agreed to not make peace with Britain unless they recognized american independence

    After British lost at saratoga they moved south there they got support from loyalist.

    Winter of valley forge was a time when many american soldiers struggled because of the harsh weather and no warm shelter. Many unfortunately died, Meanwhile the British had a warm shelter and partied.

    Young Lafayette joined Washington, helped him and later on he commanded the last year of the war.
  • spring 1779

    A royal governor commanded Georgia
  • 1780

    Henry Clinton was the replacement for Howe in NY was with general Cornwallis
  • may 1780

    5500 american soldiers were captured and were prisoners of war. Clinton left for new York and left Cornwallis to do it on his own
  • 1780 -Rhode island

    French army landed with 6000 soldiers in Newport Rhode island
  • British lose 1781

    Britain lost. Washington sends Greene to march south and harass Cornwallis. Greene divided his men into two groups.
  • January 1781

    Britain was expecting the outnumbered Americans to flee but the continental army fought very hard and made redcoats surrender.
  • april 3 1781

    Greene weakened the British. He wrote a letter to Lafayette asking for help.
  • Battle of Cowpens

    More then 300 British soldiers were killed or wounded and 600 were taken prisoners

    Robert Morris helped the continental army raise money and use their own money to help out Americans with his associate Hayn Salomon

    This day Cornwallis knew he was done he had no more power to go. He raised the "white flag"
