  • Treaty of Parise

    The Treaty of Paris was signed to end the French and Indian War between Great Britain and France. France had to give up all it's territories in North America, due to the treaty.

  • Proclamation Act

    A line drawn accross the Appalachian Mountains after the French and Indian War. Great Britian issued it because of French territory in North America.
  • The Sugar Act

    Taxes were placed on sugar and molasses for colonial merchants. They were taxed six pence/gallon for imported molasses.
  • The Stamp Act

    There was a tax placed on the colonial residents on stamps for all printed papers or documents.
  • The quartering Act

    The American colonies were requiered to provide housing and accommodate the needs of British soldiers.
  • Declaration of Rights and Grievances

    Written by the Stamp Act Congress, stating that taxes placed on British colonists without proper consent was considered unconstitutional.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    A meeting of representitives from the British colonies, where "No taxation without representation!" began.
  • Stamp Act Repealed

    Parliment repealed the stamp act before it even went into effect.
  • Declaratory Act

    The same time Parliment repealed the Stamp Act, and it lessoned the Sugar Act.

    A serious of acts were passed at this time, relating Great Britain and the British colonies in America.

    A street fight between a "patriot" mob and British soldiers. Many colonists were killed.

    Each colonial legislature chose a committee to comunicate with the rest.
  • Tea Act

    Taxation was put onto tea, which was a main, daily beverage for people at that time. This lead to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    A protest against the taxations by a group of people. When a ship imported a great amount of tea, they dumped it off the ship into the harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    A series of laws passed by parliment, ment as punishment to the colonists for their defiance and wasting tea into the harbor.

    A meeting of people from twelve of the thirteen colonies, held at Carpenters' Hall.
  • Lexington and Concord

    A battle that started the American Revolutionary War, between the thirteen colonies and Britain.
  • Bunker Hill

    A battle in the begining of the American Revolutionary War, Britain won against the thirteen colonies.
  • Appeal to Reason Rejected (Olive Branch Petition)

    A final attempt to avoid war. It confirmed the colonists loyalty to Britain and the King.

    Thomas Paine wrote this pamphlet, defending American Independence.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The documant stating the colonies to be independent and seperate from Great Britain.
