  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The proclamation was established because the colonists are easier to control on the coast. It was also to stay out of the French territories so another war didn't start. Although King James III passed the proclamation, many colonist still moved west.
  • Sugar Act

    The Sugar act was passed in 1764, it taxed sugar and molasses. This tax was only for the wealthy merchants. They passed this act because colonist kept smuggling in molasses to the colonies.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act taxed legal documents such as pamphlet's, newspaper's, almanac's, and for every legal document. It also forced special stamp duties on playing cards and dice. Because of this Act being passed, the Sons of liberty was founded. It was founded by Samuel Adams, him and the other members of Sons of Liberty harassed stamp agents, and custom workers.
  • Repeal of Stamp Act

    Repeal of Stamp Act
    In 1666 the stamp act was repealed by parliament. However later that day parliament passed the Declaratory Act, which gave the British Government free and total legislative power of the colonies.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a fight between the citizens and British soldiers. The first person to die was a black man, the fight started over jobs. Samuel Adams and other Activists said it was a British attack against defenseless citizens. The citizens were provoking the British Soldiers
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest by the Sons of liberty, they dressed up as indian's and dumped 18,000 pounds of tea from the East India Company's Tea into the Boston Harbor. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    Because of the boston tea party parliament passed the Intolerable Acts. This Act shut down the Boston Harbor. Another Act was the Quartering Act, which allowed British Soldiers in vacant private homes. Thomas Gage was appointed as the new Govenor of Massachusetts. Because of all this colonies created the First Continental Congress.
  • Lexington & Concord

    Lexington & Concord
    April 19, 1775 was the day General Gage sent troop to Concord to capture illegal weapons, And on that night Paul Revere goes around town yelling "The british is coming". It was the Shot heard around the world, it was also a bloody retreat of the British soldiers.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson got some of his idea from John Locke such as "life, liberty, and property", and got the idea of grievance from the king from Thomas Pain. It gave the right to vote, free public education, abolished slavery, extended civil rights to women, protected property rights.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    Battle of Yorktown
    This was the last major battle of the revolutionary war, Americans and French forces defeat the British. The french had a naval blockade which didn't allow the British to bring in more supplies.
