Sugar Act
The purpose of the Sugar Act was to make people by molasses rather than smuggling it in from French and Spanish colonies.
The colonists reaction to this was angry, because it stopped them from being able to smuggle in molasses.
The British government was happy because it stopped smuggling and now they had full access to colonial exports. -
Currency Act
Regulated paper money issued by the British American colonies. They were sought to protect merchants from being paid in depreciated currency.
The colonists reaction to this was happy, because they wouldn't be paid in depreciated money.
The British government though this was good because it could also help to stop counterfeiting. -
Stamp Act
An act that forced all Americans to pay tax on every piece of paper you printed. If you didn't then they would come to you and make you do it, or punish you if you refuse.
The colonists reaction to the stamp act was sad because the stamp act caused the poor to get poorer.
The government was happy because the more tax was payed, the more money they got. -
Townshend Act
This was a series of acts put on by the British Government, that put taxes on basic things like lead, glass, tea, paper, and paints.
The colonists reaction to this act was as well sad, because with tax being put on things caused the poor to get poorer.
The British Governments reaction to this was just fine, they didn't care to much because they just got more money. -
Tea Act
The Tea Act, granted the British East India Tea Company a monopoly on tea sales in the American colonies. This led to the Boston tea party, where over 100 boxes of tea were thrown overboard into the ocean.
The colonists reaction to the tea act was hatred, so this act ended up with 100's of boxes of tea being wasted.
The governments reaction was upsetting because because although this was a good law it once again led to the Boston Tea Party.
