    Sugar Acts

    This cut down on smuggling between the West Indies and America.
    The colonists reacted by protesting.
    The British refused to repeal it but instead changed t to the revenue act.
  • Period: to

    Stamp Act

    Every legal document had to be written on specially stamped paper.
    The colonists reacted by boycotting it.
    The British Government had so much pressure put on them so they repealed it.
  • Period: to

    Quartering Acts

    This act made it so the colonists had to let the British soldiers stay in their homes and they had to take care of them.
    The colonists reacted by not doing it but saying they did.
    The British Government reacted by repealing it in 1770 as a result of the Boston Massacre

    Tea Act

    This was passed to raise the cost of tea to help the East India Company.
    The colonists reacted by causing the Boston Tea Party on Dec. 16, 1773.
    The British reacted by creating a new act called the coercive acts,or better known as the intolerable acts.
  • Coercive/Intolerable Acts

    This act shut down the Boston port until the tea was reimbursed, along with changing the Boston government and changing the housing for British troops.
    The colonists reacted by declaring their independence 3 years later.
    The British reacted by agreeing because the Americans deserved the punishment.
