  • Precursor to Civil War

    Precursor to Civil War
People like Ferguson said that blacks had the same freedoms and were equal to whites but in reality they were not. Why lying to blacks was a precursor was because there were many blacks who would rebel or riot. And that caused turmoil in America. Besides the blacks rebelling, there were many whites from the more northern states who did not agree with what the supreme court and government were doing.

    Separate Car Act Passed
(The Month and Date are unknown all sources only gave the year) Louisiana passed this Act because many of the leaders of the government and court systems had the idea that even though this act would separate both races, they would still have equal accomadations. Plessy appeals his case - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plessy_v._Ferguson
The Committee of Citizens took Plessy’s appeal to the Supreme Court of the State, where Plessy again found out that no matter what he did, nobody would give him the answers he wanted to hear. The Supreme Court upheld Ferguson’s ruling. Because Plessy could not change the views from others, two legal statements or “briefs” were submitted on Plessy’s behalf. One was on how Plessy said they volated his 13th and 14th ammendment. The other one was on how a black man was not property, to whites.
