    Pixar's first take on the superhero genre. Focused on improving hair and fabric animation.

    Pixar experimented with greater environmental detail and photorealistic imagery. Inspiration for the film was drawn from NASCAR and a vacation the director, John Lasseter, took on Route 66.

    A prequel to Pixar's film Monsters Inc., the film follows the rivalry between Mike and Sully and shows their transition from bitter rivals to best friends.

    The film attempted to show the way people process emotions and give an example of how our minds work. Seen by many as a return to form for Pixar as well as being one of their most personal and touching films.

    The film, while light on story, was groundbreaking in the photorealism displayed in the environment. The character designs were simpler in order to make them stand out.
