  • American Women’s Physical Therapeutic Association created

    A group of reconstructive aides from hospitals and the U.S Army formed the AWPTA
  • AWPTA became the American Physiology Association

    They changed their name because they wanted to include men as they grew
  • World War 2

    Training courses were made for the U.S entry into World War 2. Physical Therapists were trained to assist wounded soldiers recover and return to combat.
  • Medicare and Medicaid were established

    They allowed more people to be able to get the services of physical therapists
  • Physical Therapist Assistants developed

  • PT education transitioned to master degree level

    All schools fully transitioned to having PT become master degree level
  • PTA became the only people who could help PT’s
