Philosophical Contributions of a Most Profound Influential Movement

Rudolph Carnap, a philosopher in the 1900s well known for his contributions towards theory, knowledge, principle and Logical Empiricism. Carnap had a vast thirst for knowledge. His life span was from 1891-1970 and spread over two continents, Germany and the United States. His logical mind started early, at age 14, he thought it logical to teach himself the first created international language called Esperanto. A language for world peace. This timeline will show a few of his great Works.
  • Habilitation Thesis

Carmen caught the eye of the elite Vienna Circle when he at University came up with his Habilitation Thesis.Which is the highest qualification obtainable in order to teach and examine at college level. This is when he was brought into the fold of the Vienna Circle to collaborate with fellow philosophers and scientist who were also involved with Logical Empiricism.
  • Book: The Logical Structure of the World

Published in 1928, Carnap again tries to develop on paper what has not yet been. Carmen states,"by the method of construction of elementary experiences, all the objects in the world that were also objects of knowledge could be obtained.
  • Book: The Logical Syntax of Language

An entire theory of language structure written in 1934 is said to have come to him in the wake of an illness. In the book, He unfolds his concepts of the theory of logic are purely syntactical and therefore can be formulated in logical syntax. His knowledge of the self-taught Esperanto language may have helped this development along. This has the makings of digital language translates, Oh wait, that did come out this year.
  • Book: The Unity of Science

A second book in one year and this one tries to introduce transparency of all scientific observation.
  • Flew the Coupe - Came to United States

Carnap's association with the Vienna Circle brought him scrutiny from Hitler, so he packed up his Family and set sail. Bringing with him, all his knowledge, philosophies, and skills to share them on the new continent. This also can be called a "logical movement" in terms of the logical movement Carmen was trying to create. Shortly thereafter, the head of the Vienna Circle was murdered and the Circle disbanded.
  • Founded Int'l Encyclopedia of United Science

Carmen co-founded The International Encyclopedia of Unified Science (IEUS) and it became an output to address the ever-growing concerns throughout the world for the logic, the history, and the sociology of science.
  • Book: Testability and Meaning

Here Carmen introduced semantic concepts: a statement is analytic if and only if it is logically true; it is self-contradictory if and only if it is logically false. I know I am beginning to run out of words to describe all of these philosophically abundant, new vocabulary deriving, brain sucking events. References in the rear of the timeline.
  • More Books a Plenty

Speeding this time line a little. Three more books of note:
1942: Intro to Symantics and Formalization
1947: Meaning and Necessity, which is like a Book 2 for his 1937 Testability and Meaning.
1954: Einfuhrung in die Symbolische Logik...
To include all of the ways Rudolph Carnap helped along this movement would be stretching this timeline too long. I pointed out just some of the highlights of Carmen's contributions.

I have no copyrights to this video, I logically hope for universal sharing.
