He took up the cross to fight for the Holy Land. Even though he pleadged his loyalty and was going to fight he did not deploy until about a year later. He was a valuable asset to the Christian forces. -

The old king died and Richard of Poitouwas now Richard 1 of England. He took the throne and ruled on his own. Rebelion was outlawed and condemmned when he became king. He went to fight in the Holy War almost three years after the fall of Jerusalem. -
