Anangu and the whites
Anangu (aboriginals) started to see white people appear in Australia, they called them ghosts or devils. They were living in camps in the south. The english had a competition for whoever gets from the south to the north would get a large sum of money. A man called Stuart reached the north and put a British flag in the ground. The home owners of the land saw it and became furious. They went to his camp site at night and attacked him with fire and spears. -
stuart returned
After he was forced out of the land he founded and the aboriginals didn't give him a nice first impression. He returned two years later and made a track from Adelaide all the way to Darwin. -
overland telegraph line begun.
While white men were taking the land others were setting up an overland telegraph line through stuarts path. This was a way of using morse code to communicate to people in other places or countries. -
Strange animals appeared
Anangu(aboriginals) started to see cattle and sheep surrounded in fences. The strange animals were eating all of the grass, drinking the water and eating the aboriginals bush tuckers so they didn't have anything to eat. -
the pastors
In 1877 to 1880 3 pastors arrived. They brought 3000 sheep. There was a new religion in Australia. Soon after a stone church and school was built.
