    The Conquering of Bursa

    Osman's son Orhan conquered the city of Bursa in 1326. Bursa became the first capital of the new empire.

    The reign of Murad

    Murad was the son of Orhan when his brother Suleiman died he became sultan. Murad was able to conquer much land in the Middle East. He created a new capital in Edirne. Later on in his reign he was able to conquer large parts of the Balkan Peninsula and extend his influence. Murad allowed for the incorporation of local officials and natives of the region into his empire. Murad also purchased and married to acquire new territory. These are reasons why the Ottoman empire expanded quickly

    The Battle of Kosovo

    European Armies formed an alliance to stop the expansion of the Ottomans. The Ottoman forces were able to overpower the European army and win the battle. However Murad was assassinated.

    The Reign of Bayezid

    During Bayezid's reign he was able to stop Balkan rebellions and surround Constantinople with his army. Hungarian crusaders tried to take immediate action but they were defeated.
    Later in his reign Bayezid expanded his empire further East and encountered Timur and his rising empire. Bayezid collected his troops in which put an end to the surrounding of Constantinople. Bayezid was captured and defeated in the battle.

    Murad II

    The Grandson of Bayezid who took control of territory in the Balkans and Anatolia. He expanded into Italy and ended the blockage to the Adriatic Sea. In 1444 the Battle of Varna took place in Bulgaria

    The Reign of Mehmed II

    Mehmed II was known as the conquer after he expanded the Ottoman Empire. He surrounded the Byzantine capital of Constantinople and conquered it on May 29th 1453. This made him very famous and was a significant impact on history. After this achievement Mehmed began to make the Ottoman Empire into a global superpower. He Moved talented people in various fields from across the world into his empire. He also created a legal system and expanded his empire further. He died in 1481

    The Reign of Suleyman the Magnificant

    Once Suleiman ascended to the throne he immediately launched his program of military conquest and imperial expansion. In 1521, he put down a revolt by the governor of Damascus. He conquered Belgrade which allowed him to advance into central Europe. Suleyman expanded his naval fleet and his military as ruler. He made his way up to France, and the Ottoman Empire had significant effects on Europe. He was the most powerful person in the world at the time.

    The Ottoman empire was dull and ineffective in this time period. They lost lots of territory and were not as powerful as they once were. This was due to European domination of the Western World and the huge Empires Europe created.

    A war occurred from 1853 to 1856 known as the Crimean War. The war was started by the Russians. Britain and France sided with the Ottomans and was fought on Ottoman territory. The war ended in 1856 and recognized the Ottoman Empire as a part of Europe

    The Ottoman Empire ended shortly after World War 1. The Territory of the Empire was divided up between the victorious nations. Later on a resistance was led to declare independence from these nations. The Turks won and founded the country of Turkey
