New Deal Timeline

  • Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)

    Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA)
    This was created by the Agricultural Administration Act. The purpose of this administration was to lower the amount of the crops raised and raise the prices on the crops. This helped the farmers earn more money and by the necessities they needed. Which means that they paid taxes. This administration was taken over by the Production and Marketing Administration.
  • Federal Emergency Relief Administration

    Federal Emergency Relief Administration
    The Federal Emergency Releif Act created the Federal Emergency Relief Administartion. The purpose of this was to help the needy and unemployed. By giving them money to buy food, clothing, and other necessities. The money that was given to the peole that needed it got back to the government by them buying things that they needed. Which in turn helped the economy. This administration was taken overby the Social Security Board in 1935.
  • Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)

    Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
    The purpose of this was to help with trying to prevent floods, eroded land and deforestation. As well as creating jobs to build the dams and replantation of trees. This helped the economy by selling electricity, creating jobs, and conserving water power. This is still effective today and is still building dams today.
  • Home Owners Loan Corporations (HOLC)

    Home Owners Loan Corporations (HOLC)
    The Home Owners Loan Act created the Home Owners Loan Corporation. The purpose if this was to help stabilize real estate that had depreciated during the depression and to refinance the urban mortgage debt. This helped people pay for there house at a slower rate then right away. Which helped them to be able to buy other things that they payed taxes on which worked it's way back to the economy. This corporation ended in June of 1936.
  • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

    Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
    The Securities Exchange Act created the SEC. The purpose was to regulate exchanges, brokers, and over-the-counter markets, as well as to monitor the required financial disclosures. This helped by making sure that if someones house did for close that it would be put back on the market. The SEC still is at ve in today's world.
  • National Youth Administration

    National Youth Administration
    The National Youth Administration was made as part of the Work Progress Administration. This administration was created to help youth that were going to school by giving out loans that they would work for. This also helped wtih youth that were not going to school and not working to become employed. This got money flowing between them the consumers and government. It ended in 1943 because the congress did not want to fund it anymore.
  • Social Security Administration

    Social Security Administration
    This was created by the Social Security Act. The purpose was to manage who got paid social security and who didn't. This help people that could not work because they were getting to old or because the had disability or a disabled child that they had to take care over. This helped people buy things that they needed. This is still in effect.
  • United States Housing Authority (USHA)

    United States Housing Authority (USHA)
    This was created by the United State Authority Act. The purpose of this was to oversee the nation's controversial, federally subsidized, low-income public housing programs. This helped create more jobs in the field of construction for unemployed people. The programs activities were turned over to the National Housing Agency's Federal Public Housing Authority.
  • Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act

    Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
    This act gave the FDA the authority to oversee the safety of food, drug, and cosmetics. The purpose of this act was to make sure that food, drugs, and cosmetics products were safe to use and safe to eat. This helped the economy by keeping people from getting sick and not being able to work. Which kept people from not being able to buy stuff. This act is still in affect today and is added to.
  • Fair Labor Standard Act

    Fair Labor Standard Act
    The purpose of this act was to set standards for wages and the amount of hours that you could work a week. This also allowed employers to keep 5rack of how much overtime you worked and it banned child labor. This help by allowing people to get paid over time which meant they got more money and that meant that they pent more of it causing them to pay taxes. This act is still in working order, but it has been modified to work with our updated life style.
