  • Gansu Earthquake

    Often called the "1920 Gansu Earthquake" is the 4th worst earthquake in recorded history. It caused 240,000 deaths and it's epicenter happened in Haiyuan County, in the Ningxia Province of China.
  • Great Kanto earthquake

    Around noon the lives of those living in Tokyo and Yokohama would be drastically changed. An under ocean earthquake had quickly caused 40-foot-high waves that obliterated heritage buildings. The fires that followed the 7.9-magnitude quake added to the misery. In all 140,000 people died.
  • China Floods

    The Yellow, Yangtze and Huai Rivers flooded causing millions of peoples deaths from drowning, famine and disease. Roughly 51 milliion people in all were effected while deaths approached 4,000,000
  • Bhola cyclone

    Despite often being thought of as the deadliest cyclone in recorded history, only 5 people died. Although about $188 million was cost in damage repair.
  • Tangshan earthquake

    The 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook the city of Tangshan, destorying it. 240,000 people died and 164,000 others were injured. It shook the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing and created the 25-mile long Tangshan Fault
  • Stratovolcano

    Commonly known as “Armero tragedy” a volcano that normally only produced swift-moving currents of hot gas and rock suddenly made a huge flow that burried and destroyed the town Armero in Tolima. 25,000 people died.
  • Hurricane Andrew

    Formed by a tidal wave moving ot the west coast of Africa came the tropical depression known as Hurriane Andrew. The intensity of it was prevented by a wind shear at first, but was then turned into a destructive tropical cyclone. It only caused 65 casualties, although did cost the U.S. $26 billion in property damages.
  • Pakistan earthquake

    In Kashmir near the city of Muzaffarabad the epicenter of a 7.6 earthwuake on the Richter scale accured. The official death toll was 75,000 people with 106,000 people injured.
  • Haiti Earthquake

    Ranking at a magnitude 7.0, it had 59 after shocks and had left over 200,000 deaths, left 2 million homeless, aand 3 millin in need of medicale are.
  • Christchurch earthquake

    Or the New Zealend earthquake was a magnitude 6.3. It destoryed New Zealand’s second-largest city causing $16 million in damages, killed 185 people, was reported that 238 people went missing, and 164 people were treated for injuries.
