This marks the day of my graduation from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in Red Deer, AB -
First day of college
Today I started my first day of post-secondary education, taking a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. This would change twice over the next two years, from BA Psychology to BA English. -
Received Jason Lang Scholarship
Because of my GPA standing at 3.2 or higher, I was eligible for the Jason Lang Scholarship, which amounted to $1000. -
Left Red Deer College
After changing majors a few times, I decided to take some time for myself to really think about what I wanted to do for a career. -
Started Journalism school
I decided to pursue a diploma in Journalism through Grant MacEwan University, and moved to Edmonton. -
Started six-week internship in Yellowknife
To complete the journalism program, I decided to do my internship at the Yellowknifer newspaper in Yellowknife, NWT. -
Graduation from Journalism school
On this day, I graduated with honours and received my diploma in Journalism from Grant MacEwan University -
Period: to
Western Europe trip
During this time, my best friend and I spent 6 weeks in Europe exploring England, Ireland, Scotland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and France. -
Return to RDC to take Education
After having an epiphany and realizing my calling in life was to be a teacher, I returned to RDC to pursue a degree in Education. Because of previous education, my first and second years were combined. -
Accepted to Middle Years Program
Today I received the email to congratulate me on my acceptance into the Middle Years Program, which is a collaborative degree from RDC and the U of A. -
Started Middle Years Program
Today we started our program with a retreat, where we met our cohort and the 40 people we would be spending the next two years with while completing our degree. -
Started Introductory practicum
My first day of my first practicum began this day at Normandeau School in Red Deer. I taught grade 6 ELA and 1-6 Music. -
Birth of my daughter
Surprise! I found out I was pregnant in October, and was granted maternity leave from the program for the year while I spent it at home with my baby girl, Juniper. -
Started final year of my degree
Today I rejoined a new cohort and started the final year of my Education degree. -
First day of advanced practicum
This is when I started my final practicum at Ecole Barrie Wilson School where I taught all core subjects in a Grade 5 classroom. -
Final day of practicum
This marks the final day of the Advanced Practicum where I did my student teaching at Ecole Barrie Wilson School in Red Deer. -
Education program convocation
Today is the official graduation date for the Education students, and the day I finally receive my degree!
