  • The End of The French and Indian War

    The End of The French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought between England and their colonists and The French and some Native Americans. The war left England in great debt. The war was fought because both the French and English wanted the rich fertile soil of the Ohio River Valley. It was fought between 1754 and 1763
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The original sugar act was in 1733 but in an effort to help pay off war debt and because the orignal sugar act was about to expire England had reinstated that you had to pay six pence per gallon. They passed this law without first consenting the North American Colonies. The sugar came officaly in effect in 1764.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was passed on March 22, 1765 but was not put into affect until Novemeber 1, 1765. The Stamp Act meant that every piece of printed paper they used was taxed including ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and playing cards. It was put into effect to help pay off from the French and Indian War. This tax was set on the colonists.

    The Declaratory Act
    The Declaratory Act was passed the same time the Stamp Act was taken away. The colonists thought this to be a victory that the Stamp Act was taken away but the Decaratory was much worse. It stated that Parliament's authority was the same in America as in Britain and asserted Parliament's authority to pass laws that were not passed by the American colonies. The Declaratory Act of 1766 was almost an exact copy of the 1719 Irish Declaratory Act that forced Ireland to surrender to England.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    In June, 1767. The British Parliment passed these acts in 1767. The purpose of these acts were to raise money for the colonies to raise revenue for the salaries of governers and judeges so that they would remain loyal to Great Britain.These acts put a tax's on glass, paint, lead and oil.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Took place March 5th 1770. The Boston Massacre was the killing of five british colonists. After one gaurd was knocked down by an angry protester gaurds then opened fire on a crowd in self defense.
  • Tea Act

    In May 10, 1773. The tea act was passed by British Parliment. It was designed to give more money to the East India Company which was doing bad finacially, it had 18 million ponds of unsold tea. The Tea Act, It raised the tax on tea . It Was the reason for the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    In December 16, 1773. In defiance of the tea act. Colonists dressed up as American indians and threw chests tea overboard into the Boston Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    In May 20, 1774. The Intolerable Acts were passed by the British Parliment. So that the massachusett colony had to pay for the destroyed tea in the Boston Tea Party. The laws closed Boston Harbor and forced colonists to house british soldiers in their homes.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    In April 19th 1775. The battle of Lexington and Concord was the start of the American Revolutionary War. It is reffered to as the shot heard around the world. It was between Great Britain and its American colonies.
