The Chile earthquake had a magnitude of 9.5 and was estimated to kill 61 people when the tsunami hit Hawaii. I found interesting that it was caused by subduction of the Nazca plate under South America. -

Hokkaido Earthquake had a magnatude of 7.8 and killed 120 people. I found interesting that this tsunami traveled in 30 min. -
Papua New Guinea Quake- Papua New Guinea
The Papua New Guinea quake had a magnitude of 7.1 and killed more than 2,100 people. An interesting fact I found was that the hospitals were overwhelmed and left people untreated for days at a time. This lead to gangrene. -
Sumatra Earthquake- Indonesia
This earthquake had a magnitude of 9.1 and killed 230,000 people. I found interesting that the rupture was more than 600 miles long. -
Samoa Earthquake- Samoan Islands
The Samoa earth quakes had a magnitude of 8.1 and killed about 200 people. I found interesting that many people went missing and still have not been found after the tsunami. -
Chile Earthquake- Chile
The Chile Earthquakes had a magnitude of 8.8 and killed about 700 people. I found interesting that Chile just had an earthquake on November 2nd, with a magnitude of 4.6. -
Tohoku Earthquake- Japan
The Tohoku Earthquake had a magnitude of 9.1 and killed over 20,000 people. I found interesting that the damage from the earthquake was valued at 300 billion dollars.
