  • The Mexican War of Independence

    Spain grants freedom to Mexico after war last lasted from 1808 to 1821. The events that took place have been considered a revolutionary civil war.
  • The Old Three Hundred

    Around three hundred grantees purchased 307 parcels of land from Stephen Austin. They established a colony that ran from the Gulf of Mexico on the south.
  • Slavery abolished in Mexico

    The Guerrero decree abolished slavery throughout the Mexican territories
  • Texas Revolution

    War breaks out between Santa Anna's troops and against Texan revolutionaries.
  • Texan Independence

    The day the Texas Revolution came to an end and gained independence from Mexico.
  • Manifest Desitny

    This is a term that was used and created in 1845 for the belief that the United States is destined to expand and to spread out into more land.
  • Shed American blood on American Soil

    Mexico invaded United States Territory. Two days later, congress declared war.
  • The Wilmot Proviso

    Wilmot introduced legislation that stated "neither slavery nor involuntary servitude shall ever exist"
  • Gold Rush

    The beginnings of the discovery of gold in California in Sutter's Creek.
