The Rule of Suleiman the Magnificent Begins

1520 BCE

Suleiman the magnificent or Kanuni (meaning “the lawgiver”) was the longest ruler of the ottoman empire. His rule went for twenty years (1520 – 1560). He is remembered for his entire change in the ottoman legal system. he threatened to overrun the whole of Europe with his substantial military forces.

The Fall of Constantinople

1453 BCE

The Fall of Constantinople was the capture of the Byzantine empire by the invading Ottoman empire. The capture of Constantinople struck the end of the Byzantine empire.

Outbreak of the Black Death

1347 BCE

The first outbreak of the Black Death was in 1347 C.E and petered out in 1353 C.E. The Black Death is estimated to have killed 30%-60% of Europe’s population bringing it down from about 450 million to 350 million. Also, during this time the scots invade England because the English were weakened by the plague, they subsequently caught the plague, went back to Scotland and killed half their own population.

The First Crusade

1096 BCE

The first crusade was launched after a speech given by pope urban II in clement, France. The crusade were a series of wars fought by the Christians of Europe against the Muslims to try and retake the holy lands of Jerusalem.

William the Conqueror Invades England

1066 BCE

In January 1066 king Edward (the king of England) died, William the conqueror immediately acted. He and his men landed at Pensevey Bay and marched up towards Hastings where they met king Harold and his army. Later that day, Harold was dead and William marched up to London and was crowned the first Norman king of England.

The Charlemagne Forms the Holy Roman Empire

800 BCE

In 800 C.E the Charlemagne was appointed ruler of the holy roman empire. the Holy Roman Empire was a group of free cities and regions all under the rule of the one emperor. it was created by the coronation of the Charlemagne (or Charles the great) as Roman Emperor by pope Leo II.

The Raid of Lindisfarne

793 BCE

In 793 C.E a group of Vikings (or Norsemen) led a raid on the Christian monastery at Lindisfarne in Northumbria. Northumbrian monasteries were famous for books, art and treasures. The Vikings burnt buildings and houses, they stole valuables, they killed monks and caused terror.

The Fall of the Roman Empire

476 BCE

In 476 C.E Roman emperor, Augustus Romulus was overthrown by the Germanic leader, Odoacer. He became the first barbarian to rule in Rome. It is named “The Fall Of The Roman Empire” because once Romulus was overthrown there was never again a Roman emperor to rule the city of Rome
