    This time is when they are planning the independence and how are the Mexicans going to act against the Spaniards. Hidalgo was planning this whole movement by making people notice that Mexico needed to be independent and he made people understand that they needed to stop the Spanish people.

    Miguel Hidalgo was caught planning all this fight against the Spaniards. Because of he being caught, he was now a wanted person in this time because his movement appeared to be strong against the Spaniards.

    This day, Miguel HIdalgo decided to reunite with all his people and make this “Grito de Dolores” and this inspired all his people to start this war against Spain and make Mexico independent.

    The army that was held by Miguel Hidalgo, was starting to invade the spanish in the city of Guanajuato. El pipila was the one who gave the access by destroying the door with the rock he had in his back to the Alhondiga de Granaditas. Mexicans had the privilege to kill a lot of spanish and creoles.

    The Mexican army formed by Hidalgo, started a battle in Monte de las Cruces against the Spaniards. The Mexicans won but Hidalgo who was their leader decided to not attack Mexico City.

    Hidalgo's army marched in Mexico with an army of almost 90,000 people who were against the Spaniards and wanted to kill them. All of this 90,000 people fought in the Battle of Calderon Bridge, but sadly a 6,000 spanish army killed many Mexicans and lost this battle in Calderon Bridge.

    July 31 1811
    Hidalgo was sadly captured and executed but the independence movement still carried on and now the new leader was Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon.
  • November 1815

    November 1815
    The Battle of Temalaca took place in Temalaca, Puebla. This battle was fought vs the royalist forces of the Spanish people and sadly the spaniards won the battle. To add on, the leader of the Mexican Independence was also caught and executed just like Hidalgo time before.
  • February 24, 1821

    February 24, 1821
    Finally the Plan de Iguala was signed by Iturbide and Spanish Viceroy Juan O'Donoju and this signed paper gave Mexico what they wanted; their independence and freedom.
  • September 1821

    September 1821
    Mexico was now officially an independent country.
