    The Song of Roland is written in French about a brave knight Roland who fights for Charlemagne against muslims. He sounds his horn for Charlemagne to help him but it's too late for him to be saved.

    Insquisition

    People urged to confess heresy and they would be tortured, also got told to ask for forgiveness. Inquistion turned non-believers over to political leaders, who had the permission to execute them. Catholic Churches believed that without the teachings of the church, or if you stopped believing, it would be harder to get into heaven. As Princess Isabella of Castile married her prince and they became queen and king, they pressured the Jews to convert to being catholic.

    Magna Carta
    The Magna Carta stated that the kings and vassals both had certain rights and duties. This effected the king's power because he could no longer collect taxes and the freeman accused of crimes had the right to fair trials by their peers. The Magna Carta is importnat because it helped to establish the ideas that people have rights and the power of the government should be limited.

    This was created by Edward I. Parliment is made up of two kinds of knights, from every country, two people from every town, and all high ranking nobles and chruch officials. The knights and townspeople met at the house of commons when they had a meeting.

    Thomas Aquinas

    Thomas Aquinas was the greatest cholasticism's champion, which began to change the study of theology. He combined chruch teachings with arstotle. Aquinas began writing a summary of knowledge on theology. He claimed that the natural law gave people certain rights that the government should not take away, which includes the right to live, to learn, to worship, and to reproduce.

    Hundred Years' Wars

    The French kings wanted to frive the englis out of Normandy. In 1337 King Edward III declared kimself the king of France. The first battle started in Crecy after Edward invaded France. England then gain control of Northern France and settled the arguement of who controlled France.

    The Black Plague

    The Black Plague is deadly disease, most scientist think it was a Bubonic Plague, a disease caused by types of bacterias carried by fleas. This caused so many deaths that it tuened Europe's economy upside down. Trade got declinded, wages rose, and food prices all because of the black plague. It helped weaken the feudal system and chang Eurpean society, like the crusades.
  • Charlemagne/Holy Roman Empire

    Charlemagne/Holy Roman Empire
    Charlemagne was the king of Franks at 29 years old. He made Aachen the capital of the empire. A.D. 782 he arragned for several famous scholars to come to his capitial to create a royal school. His kingdom grew into an empire and his conquests earned him the name Charlemagne or Charles the Great. The Holy Roman Empire has King Otto as a ruler so they called his territory the Holt Roman Empire. He fought magyars and sent troops to italy to protect the pope.
