    King Harold II was defeated by the Norman forces of William the Conqueror. The battle had taken place at Senlac Hill, seven miles from Hasting, England. Two weeks before the battle. William ( the duke of Normandy) had invaded England, claiming his right to the English throne. Edward the confessor promise to make William his heir. However, Edward granted Harold the kingdom to Harold Godwine. Edward died and Harold Godwine proclaiming king Harold II, and William immediately disputed his claim.
