Italy took over Libya because their coast line was used to ship goods.The Italians treated the Libyans horrible because 25% of the population was killed. -

They gained independance because King Idris I represented Libya in the subsequent UN negotiations. -
Effects of Imperalism
The effects of imperalism on Libya were deaths of nearly half Libyans.Also they were forced to live in concetration camps.But a positive effect was that Italy is paying Libya 5 billion dollars for occupying the Libyan land. -

Right now Libya has a Jamaniriya Government and also offers free education.
