Louis XIV became king of France in 1643 he became king at the age of four. His reign was the longest that ever lasted of any European Monarch. He began ruling after the death of Cardinal Mazarin, his chief minister. (Weakness for the people, and strength for himself) -
Louis Strengthen the Government
Louis was not seem capable of being a king because his weakness was love. Louis dedicate himself to work for eight hours a day no detail was know by the court before Louis already knew it and that's when the government became more strong. These act took place in France in march 10.Because of these act the government of France was able to pick up the paste and that was when the 11th civil war took place after 40 years it was declared by the young king Louis XIV. -
Support in arts
He allowed French literature to flourish by protecting influential writers such as Molière, Racine and La Fontaine. He patronized visual arts by providing funds and commissions for famous artists.These was important because it allowed people like Charles Le Brun and Pierre Mignard to spread there ideas and people got some encouragement and more people became artist. France became artist and France became a wealthy country. -
Extended French Territory
in 1665, Louis XIV initiated the War of Devolution (1667-1668) claiming Spanish Netherlands as his wife’s inheritance.These is important because it allowed France to expand there ideas which could give France more money and power.The french armies easily defeated the Spanish forces conquering Spanish Netherlands and the Franche-Comté,Conquering other parts could allowed them to capture people for their armies and make themselves stronger. -
He reformed legally irregular France through his Code Louis
When Louis XIV started his personal rule, France was a patchwork of legal systems with many different legal customs. Louis XIV introduced a series of legal reforms, known as Code Louis, to establish uniform laws throughout France. These was code that help France to have loyalty and there was no corruption,Which means that if there is o corruption the people are happy with what their are doing. Other countries are not going to see France as a big messy country.
