    Vladimir Lenin dies
    At the age of 54, the head of the Bolshevik Revolution and the first leader of the Soviet Union dies from a brain hemorrhage. Significance- At Lenin's death Joseph Stalin was appointed as the leader of the Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin now leading the Soviet Union led the Union to power from its lacking state to the ability to compete with European countries with trade from its great production.

    Stock market crashes
    On Wall Street in New York City, billions of dollars were lost and some 16 million shares were traded on that single Tuesday. Significance- The crash of the stock market in the United States greatly impacted the whole world. Sending America first into the Great Depression, America being a powerhouse of the world, only focused on necessity production as they were at a low point, meaning very little trade was made with other countries, affecting the global economy.
  • Salt March

    Salt March
    A non-violent civil disobedience act against Britain. India had to purchase its own salt from Britain which was no where near fair. Gandhi and many of his followers marched to the beach and gathered salt as was illegal to rebel against the British who was taking their land. Significance- The Salt March let Britain know that the Indians were going to be a force to go against in seeking their independence. The march urges other Indians to push for the independence they later received.

    Hitler named Chancellor of Germany
    Paul von Hindenburg appoints Adolf Hitler as chancellor and fuhrer of the Nazi Party in Germany. Significance- Beginning his rein of the Third Reich, Adolf Hitler slowly built his power in Germany. Leading up to the Holocaust Hitler's rein continued through WWII. Most known for his anti Semitic actions, under the control of Hitler approximately 6 million Jews were killed throughout the Halocaust
  • Germany leaves League of Nations

    Germany leaves League of Nations
    Germany left the League of Nations due to the fact that they were not receiving the military equality they were demanding. Soon after the departure, Germany quickly increased military numbers, preparing for battle. Significance- After Germany arranged its military, it led an attack on Poland, starting the second World War.

  • Hindenburg Crashes

    Hindenburg Crashes
    At Lakehurst, New Jersey the Hindenburg airship came barreling down, setting fire to the rain, killing 35 passengers. A spark caused the ignitable hydrogen to light, leading the airship to its doom. Significance-This disaster lead to the end of the airship era. While many airships are still used today, none are used for transportation, only for recreational use.
