Launching the new Nation

  • The First Inauguration Day

    Inauguration day, George Washington was our hero and all the church bells are ringing, even though I was only a kid during the revolution, I still know who Washington was the United States hero. He just walked America through the war and slowly but surely took over the British. But mainly, most of the Americans still remaining were in favor of him being America's leader.
  • The First President

    America was a believer in all that George Washington was doing because he was the leader in the war against Great Britain. Not only that but he was a natural leader and he did everything to help the new born country that was getting formed. When Inauguration Day came, almost everyone immediately looked to him to lead the country again through life and not only a war.
  • Judiciary Act 1789

    The Judiciary Act of 1789 was officially named " An act to create the judges court in the United States, and was signed by President George Washington. The Judiciary Act was one of the government's first ideas because they wanted to split up the Judicial Branch of court into Supreme court and other inferior courts as Congress decided they would make more.
  • America's Expectations for the Nation

    Most Americans had high expectations for the new country, The people wanted improved and not blocked trade. But they also expected the government to protect them and to keep the economy on a strong foundation. But, living together as one new nation was all new to them and they weren't too sure about it. By 1790, the United States was the home of about four thousand people.
  • Cabinet Meeting 1792

    George Washington started the cabinet meetings and now they are a common thing that happens nowadays. The president has meetings with his most trusted and top advisers. At first it wasn't a normal thing but by 1792 in was normal. For his most important positions he had to chose carefully. For the first to have those positions he chose Alexander Hamilton, as secretary of the treasury and Thomas Jefferson as secretary of state.
  • Wall Street

    In 1792, about twenty-four stockbrokers came together and signed an agreement under a buttonwood tree on Wall Street. This so called agreement was the base for what later turned into the New York Stock Exchange. But at first nobody knew that. What those stockbrokers just signed turned out to be incredibly important, but as usual, after those people were dead and completely out of the picture. Just like any famous painting in the modern world.
  • NYC population

    By 1790, New York's population had topped 33,000 people and was still growing at exceedingly fast rates. To many officials, the vibrant New York City reflected the potential future of the new nation also know as the United States. It was here that the people decided was fitting to put the capital of the new nation. Everybody thought it was smart except all of the farmers in the south who took up most of the nation so in the end they moved it down more south to Washington D.C.
