    Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence. He organized the Louisiana Purchase. He was elected to a second presidential term.

    The treaty returned Louisiana Territory back to France.

    There were a sequence of three main shocks between 1811 and 1812. The first one didn't cause very much damage. The third one was the most destructive destroying the town of New Madrid.

    The war was caused by Great Britains restrictions on the U.S. trade and them wanting to expand their territory. During the war the nations capital was captured and burned. The Treaty of Ghent ended the war in 1815.

    Fort Smith was established to patrol the neighboring Indian territory. It was named after General Thomas Smith. The fort was abandoned seven years later but by that time the town had already been established.

    He made his way into Fort Smith by the Arkansas and Red rivers. He wrote about the Quapaw and Osage dwellings and customs. He also wrote about the mountains of Arkansas being like the Appalachian Mountains.

    The territory of Arkansas is established
    It was created out of the territory of Missouri. Arkansas Post was the first territorial capital.
  • Congress approves the Missouri Compromise

    Congress approves the Missouri Compromise
    The compromise regulated slavery in the western states. It established Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. It led the the Civil War several years later.
