    When Amir was getting bullied Hassan stepped in and Assef "searched Hassan's intently ... what he found in it must have convinced him of the seriousness of Hassan's intentions because he lowered his fists" (Hosseini 42). Hassan is willing to step in for Amir because he is his best friend. Their friendship is inseparable and they have each others backs.

    On Hassan's birthday Baba says "It's an unusual present, I know, probably not what you had in mind but this present will last you forever" (Hosseini 46). This is a very generous gift for Baba to give to his servants son. Amir becomes a little bit more jealous because of this.

    In the early morning they "heard the rat-a-tat-tat of gunfire" (Hosseini 35). This is a terrifying situation to be in at such a young age. This is why it is a huge turning point in his life once the war starts.

    Baba and Amir are chatting and then Baba states "When you kill a man you steal his life" (Hosseini 18). This is a large amount of information for Amir to take in because he is so young. This causes him to misinterpret it and believe his father is telling him this because he killed his mother.

    After Amir reads Hassan his story Hassan says "Some day, Inshallah, you will be a great writer" (Hosseini 33). Hassan is always able to find a way to help Amir out. Just by saying this it boost Amir's confidence because his father does not give him this same support.

    After Amir and him and Hassan start jumping up and down, then Hassan exclaims "You won, Amir Agha! You won!" (Hosseini 66). This moment is Amir's best moment of his life. He is so happy because he believes his dad will like him now because he won the kite running competition.

    Assef and his gang surround Hassan in an alley then "Assef knelt behind Hassan, put his hands on Hassan's hips and lifted his bare buttocks" (Hosseini 75). Amir just watched his best friend get raped over a kite. This is a huge turning point for their friendship because after this they drift away.

    The book states that Baba "loved the idea of America" (Hosseini 125). Baba had a deep interest in anything that had to do with America. Baba did not like the living conditions in Afghanistan because it was so war torn.

    Soon after they move to America Amir gets married to a girl named Soraya. At the ceremony "she kissed [his] fathers hands and sat beside [him]" (Hosseini 168). This was a big moment for not only Amir but also his father. He was so excited to see his father proud of him because that was a rare sight.

    Baba stops a rape

    When Baba confronts the soldier for attempting to rape a women the soldier puts a gun to his head which is when Baba says "I'll take a thousand of his bullets before I let this indecency take place" (Hosseini 116). This act of bravery saves this women from being in an awful situation. This makes Amir feel even worse about himself because he flashes back to when he did not stand up for Hassan.

    One month after the wedding before Baba went to bed he said "there is no pain tonight" (Hosseini 173). Baba could tell his death was coming the night before he died. He was glad that he got to experience some touching moments with his son before he passed away.

    After his novel release Amir stated "So much happiness. I wondered whether I deserved any of it" (Hosseini 183). He was so excited to release his book because he had put so much time and effort into it. Basically this was one of the best moments of Amir's life because he was finally able to pursue his own dream.
