The Zimmerman was a coded message sent from German foreign Minister Arthur Zimmerman. The British managed to pick up the message and was able to decode it. It said that the Germans were going to resume sumbmarine patrols even after they promised America they were not going to and they asked Mexico to help and join the war on their side -
