    In England in 1413 the followers of John Wyclif who is an english priest who has been dead since 1384, claim that the Bible is the only rule of faith. They appeal to the Catholic clergy to return to the simple life of the early Church. The followers oppose war, the doctrine of transubstantiation, confession, and images in worship. They march on London, and Henry V, fearing social disorder, suppresses the movement. This is important because the people stand up for what they believe in. (Smitha)

    John Hus who was a Czech and a former dean of philosophy at the University of Prague. He travels to the Council of the Constance to propose his reforms of the church. Soon after his arrival he is tried for heresy and is burned at the stake. This event is important because he was burned just for trying to reform the church. which means he just tried to change it.     The Portuguese have been building latine-rigged ships. These ships can tack into the wind. Which made it possible for them to explore waters off the coast of northern Africa.     In Austria in 1421 Vienna Jews who rejected baptism where burned alive. Thirty-two men and 120 women who refused baptism were brought to Vienna and where burned alive. On March 12, 1421 those who had survived the past years incerations, tortures and drownings, who had not already chosen suicide over conversion were set on fire. This is important because innocent people are being killed for their religion.(Green)

    At age 18 joan was at the front of the army. On may 8, 1429 Joan led the French army to victory at the battle of Orleans to break the siege.     The Battle of Jargeau took place on june 11-12, 1429. This battle took place shortly after relieving the siege at Orleans.This is Joan's first offensive battle. French Forces recaptured the neighboring district along the Loire river. This event is important because it was the first sustained French offensive in a generation in the Hundred Years War.     After the battle of Orleans Charles VII was encouraged by Joan to hurry to reims to be crowned king. But he and his advisors were more cautious. Eventually Charles and his procession finally entered Reims where he was crowned king on July 18, 1429. Joan of Arc was at Charles side, occupying a visible place at the ceremonies.     In the spring of 1430, Charles VII ordered Joan to compiegne to confront the Burgundian assault. during the battle she was thrown off of her horse and was left outside the towns gates. The Burgundians took her captive and held her for several months. She was later exchanged for 10,000 francs ad returned to France. This event is important because she was captured in war and she could of been killed but instead she was just bought back by France. (biography.com editors)

    The Aztecs have finally won a three-year war with the Tepaneca. The Tepaneca have been dominant in central Mexico and to whom the aztecs have been paying tribute. They have conquered the Tepaneca city, Azcapotzalco. This is important because the aztecs had won another war and took control of more territory. (Smitha)

    Joan was charged with 70 counts, including witchcraft, heresy and dressing like a man. Instead of being held in a church prison with nuns as guards, she was held in a military prison. Joan was threatened with rape and torture. She protected herself by tying her soldiers’ clothes tightly together with dozens of cords. Frustrated they could not break her, the tribunal eventually used her military clothes against her, charging that she dressed like a man. Continued on accused part 2.

    On the morning of May 30, 1431 she was taken to the marketplace in Rouen where she was burned at the stake. Before a crowd of about 10,000 people who had come to watch her. This is is important because she had been burned at the age of 19 because she was accused of being linked with the devil. Due to the voices that she claimed to hear in her head.   • Saint Joan of Arc

    Soon after Joan's death King Charles VII ordered an investigation. In 1456 she was proven to be officially innocent of all charges and designated a martyr. And on May 16, 1920 she was canonized as a saint and is the patron saint of France. This is important because she was proven to be innocent and didn't do anything wrong so she was technically killed for no reason. (Biography.com editors)
