    President Carter had more African Americans and Women on his administration than any before him. He had 28 African Americans, and 29 Women. He also included 14 latinos. He appointed a civil rights leader in 1977, Andre Young, who was an African American.
  • Time Magazine Man of the year

    Time Magazine Man of the year
    Time magazine named Carter man of the year even before he took office in 1977. His presidential campaign promising to help the energy crisis and pardoning Vietnam draft evaders won over the people and became the best candidate for this title.

    Carter was the democratic nominee that won the election of 1976. He had run against the republican candidate Gerald Ford, the previous president who was speaking re-election.

    Put a higher tax on inefficient cars, new utilities for non-petroleum fuel sources, deregulate oil prices, tax credits for homeowners making their house more energy efficient, focus on alternative fuel research and nuclear energy. Passed during the energy crisis started by OPEC that put an embargo on gas.

    His greatest foreign policy achievement. Settled the conflict between Egypt, and Israel. Helped Anwar el-Sadat and Menachem come to terms at the Camp David Summit, Israel gave back the peninsula and they came to an agreement that Egypt would be the first to recognize their existence.
