    On May 29,1917, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, future presdient, was born in Brookline, MA. His father was Joseph P. Kennedy and his mother was Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was named after his mother's father. He was the second of nine children.
  • Deadly Scarlet Fever

    Deadly Scarlet Fever
    2-and-a-1/2 year old John, a.k.a.Jack, got scarlet fever, a deadly illness. He had to live in the hospital for awhile. He was often sick and would read books in bed. His favorite book was "King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table".

  • 2nd Lieutenant of PT-109

    2nd Lieutenant of PT-109
    When World War II began, Jack became 2nd Lt. of PT (patrol torpedo) 109. He was in the Navy. He went with a fleet of other PT boats to stop Japanese destroyers.
  • Sunk!

    Sunk!
    While searching for enemy ships, a Japanese destroyer riped PT-109 in 2! As soon as Jack realized the remains of PT-109 would sink, he and his men swam to Plum Pudding Island. He refused to leave his friend behind who was badly burned to die alone. He a bit a strap of his life vest and pulled him to shore. He carved a message on a coconut that read, "NATIVE KNOWS POSIT HE CAN PILOT 11 ALIVE NEED SMALL BOAT KENNEDY". 6 days later they were rescued.

    Jack became the Massachusetts senator with 51.5% of the votes.

    Senator JFK married Jackie Lee Bouvier and about 33,000 people saw Mr. and Mrs.Kennedy get married in Newport, Rhode Island.

    "Profiles in Courage" is a book that JFK wrote about Daniel Webster, John Quincy Adams, Sam Houston, Robert A.Taft, and many others. It was about senators who showed courage by doing the right thing when no one else wanted to do it. It won a Pulitzer Prize.

    Jack became the 45th president of the United States of America on Nov. 9th, 1960. He defeated Richard Nixon.
  • Bay Of Pigs

    Bay Of Pigs
    From 4/17/1961 to 4/19/1961, an invasion went in
    Cuba's Bay Of Pigs on Jack's orders. The invasion was a complete failure. It was like the Cubans knew they were coming. Cuba was a communist country and it was 90 miles off the tip of Florida. He thought Cuba was a threat to the Americans. About 1,000 men were captured and kept in Cuba. The rest of the men were killed. After this, Jack thought before he acted, so he wouldn't do another thing like the Bay of Pigs invasion.

    Cubian missile Crisis
    The Soviet Union put missiles in Cuba. The short range missiles could hit the tip of Florida. JFK blockaded Cuba, making it impossible for any Soviet ships to reach Cuba with more missiles. The Soviet leader and JFK decided to not test nuclear weapons.

    Jack (JFK) was assassinated in 1963 by Lee Harvey Olswald in Dallas, Texas.
