Kanghwa Treaty
The Treaty of Kanghwa signed on February 27, 1876, was an unfair treaty that was forced to Korea by Japan. This treaty was designed to open Korea to Japanese trade. It also ended Korea's status as a protectorate of China and opened three ports to Japan. -

In 1884, Kim Ok-Kyun formed a new government with a new reform. The new government lasted only two days. It was defeated by Chinese soldiers within a short time. -
