    First Battle of Isonzo
    The first battle in a series of numerous wars in which the aim was to drive the Austrians away from their defensive positions along Isonzo. Although they outnumbered the opposing army, they failed because of strategical mistakes by their general Luigi Cardona.
  • Second battle of Isonzo

    Second battle of Isonzo
    After the First Battle of Isonzo, which occured two weeks after, the Italian army led another frontal assault against Austria. Austria ended up beating the offensive which resulted in exhaustion on behalf of the Italian army.

    Third through Fifth battles of Isonzo

    In yet another attempt to bring the Austrians to shambles, the Italian offensive was conversely repulsed by the Austrian army. The third and fourth battles all ended being called off.
  • Sixth Battle of Izonso

    Sixth Battle of Izonso
    The most successful Italian offensive yet. Despite the overall casualties and mortalities, this was an enormous boost in morale.
