Isaac Newton

  • Birth

    Birth
Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643 in Wolesthorpe England. Isaac's parents were Isaac Newton Sr. and Hanna Ayscough. When Isaac was born he was so small he could fit in a quartpot. His birth is important because he would grow up to be one of the greatest scientists to ever live.
  • Newton goes to Cambridge

When Newton is 16, his mother brings him home from King's School to learn to be a farmer. Newton wants to study instead, and he is eventually sent back to prepare for college. He ends up going to Trinity College at Cambridge in 1661. Also he he was fascinated by science. This was an important event because this is where Newton would do most of his important work. (Sir Isaac Newton)
  • Calculus

    Calculus
In 1665, Newton had invented a new type of math called calculus. Newton's theory was based on fellow Englishman's John Wallis and Isaac Barrow. His theory allowed mathematicians and engineers to make sense of the motion and dynamic change in the changing world around them, such as the orbits of the planets and the motion of fluids. (17th Century Mathematics-Newton)
  • Three Laws of Motion

    Three Laws of Motion
In 1666, Newton invented the three laws of motion. The first law was, an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by a unbalanced force, and this is known as the "law of inertia." The second law of motion is acceleration is produced when a force acts on the mass. The third law is for every action there is a equal or opposite reaction. This helped scientists learn how things move and stop. (Sir Isaac Newton)
  • Isaac Newton reinvents the telescope

    Isaac Newton reinvents the telescope
Astronomers had struggled for years with chromatic aberration, the fringes of color that surrounded bright objects seen through a glass lens. As light passes through a lens, it breaks up into various colors because the glass bends the colors by different amounts. Newton’s solution was simple: He took the lens out of the telescope. This was important because his telescope was functioned better than the regular telescopes. (Newton's Reflectors)
  • Theory of light

    Theory of light
Newton wanted to disapprove a French philosophers theory on light .His theory was that the geometric nature of the laws of reflection and refraction could only be explained if light was made of particles, as waves do not tend to travel in straight lines. Newton stated in a series of experiments he had conducted earlier that year had proven that light is made of particles and not waves. This was important because people now knew about light. (Newton's Theory of Light)
  • King Philip's War

    King Philip's War
Metacom, chief of the Wampanoag Indians, son of Massasoit who feasted with the Pilgrims in 1621, tried to live in harmony with the colonists. He adopted the name Philip and is called King Philip by the colonists. But continuing expansion against the Indians finally led to war – King Philip's War. Metacom and the Wampanoag Indians are defeated. Metacom's wife and and eight-year-old son are sold as slaves and shipped to Bermuda. Metacom's body is cut into quarters. (Timeline 1670-1681)
  • Isaac's mother dies

    Isaac's mother dies
Isaac's mother Hanna dies on June 9 1679. Sir Isaac Newton is devastated. She died and was buried in Colsterworth, Lincolnshire United Kingdom. This was important in Isaac's life because he lost on of the most important people in his life. (Hannah Newton)
  • Japan's Peace

    Japan's Peace
Japan is benefiting from an era of peace, order and prosperity. Food production has risen. The use of money has spread to Japan's farmers. Merchant values such as thrift and prudence in all things mixes with Confucianism's regard for order. This is important because now Japan has a chance to rise to gain power.
  • Gravity Theory

    Gravity Theory
Newton came up with the theory of gravity from a apple falling from a tree. His theory states that every mass attracts every other mass in the universe, and that the gravitational force between two bodies is proportional to the Product of their masses. and inversely Proportional to the square Of the distance between them. This theory helped astronomers and scientists understand how everything doesn't float on earth.
  • Isaac joins the royal society of london

Isaac joins the royal society of london
Newton builds an improved version of the reflecting telescope. His friend, Dr. Barrow, takes it to the Royal Society of London, the country's most famous scientific society. The members are so impressed they invite Newton to join. This is important for Newton because people are starting to recognize his work and his contributions in science and mathematics. • Alexander Westernization

With an entourage and sometimes disguised as a commoner, Peter is visiting Western Europe to examine the international situation, to strengthen a coalition against the Ottomans and to learn about the economies and cultures of Western Europe. This is important because Alexander wanted to make Russia more like Europe. (World History Timeline)

England, the Dutch Republic and the Holy Roman Emperor oppose the king of France also becoming the king of Spain, and they form an anti-French alliance.1701 The Habsburg Holy Roman Emperor, King of Spain, and they form an anti-French alliance. This is an important event in history because the French own a lot of land and this is a great opportunity to gain land. (World History Timeline)
  • Poland, Russia, Denmark look to expand

The recent death of Sweden's king has encouraged Denmark, Russia and Poland to challenge Sweden's hegemony in the Baltic Sea area. The Great Northern War begins. Charles XII, demonstrates his power by leading an army into Poland, routing a combined German and Polish force and putting onto the throne in Poland a king of his choosing: Stanislaus Leszczynski, who becomes Stanislaus I. This an important event because each country is fighting for land in America where there is a lot of good resources. Also, it is on the sea and is good for trading. (World History Timeline)
