Chris graduates from Emory University to make his parents happy but soon after tells them he is going to travel.

Chris leaves his car in the woods

Chris decided his car isn't worth it anymore and he abandons it in the woods with most of his belongings inside.

Chris makes it to California(Jan Burres)

Period: Jul 10, 1990 to Aug 9, 1990

Chris hitchhiked to California where he meets Jan Burres and her boyfriend and they become friends on his journey to Alaska.

Meets Wayne Westerberg

Oct 28, 1990

Wayne Westerberg picks up Chris but Chris says his name is Alex. Wayne offers Alex a lot of items for his journey but he doesn't take them.

Next stop is the Grand Canyon

Feb 9, 1991

He meets this German couple on the road and he camps at the bottom of the Grand Canyon with them. He has lost 25 pounds so far.

Finally makes it to Bullhead City, Arizona

Oct 5, 1991

Alex meets a guy named Charlie who offers him an empty RV to sleep in for a while to get some money for his next hitchhiking journey. He stays in Bullhead City for 2 months and works.

Meets Ronald Franz

Jan 1, 1992

Franz is an older guy who befriends Alex. They become really close with each other and Franz does a lot of stuff for Alex before taking him to his next destination in Seattle.

Makes it to Carthage for work

Mar 14, 1992

Goes to Wayne Westerbergs grain elevator to work before his next stop which is Alaska.

Finally makes it to Alaska!!!

Apr 22, 1992

Finds a bus and decides to take it into the Alaskan trails with him.

Last stop is Alaska(Jim Gallien)

Apr 28, 1992

Jim Gallien picks up Alex on the way to the Alaskan highway. Finally makes it there and to Alaska he goes.

Dies from Starvation

Aug 19, 1992

Alex is found in Alaska dead in his bus. He died from frostbite and starvation.
