  • League of Nations Established

    League of Nations Established
    The League of Nations was established after World War I because people believed there needed to be an organization to maintain global peace. Negotiations were first started with Woodrow Wilson and began in 1918. 2 years later the League of Nations was founded.
  • League of Nations Aalans Islands

    League of Nations Aalans Islands
    There was a disagreement between finland and sweden. The people on the island are on paper belonging to finland, but they wanted to be a part of sweden. When no once could decide they turned to the League of Nations for help. The League decided on leaving it control of finland, but no weapons were allowed to be stored there.
  • League of Nations Greece and Bulgaria

    League of Nations Greece and Bulgaria
    Greece and Bulgaria share a border, and there has been some conflict over this border. In the this incident, there was some gunfire traded between sentries from each side. In the proccess it killed one Greek soldier. Greece then invaded Bulgaria in an act of war. Bulgaria then asked the League of Nations to help sort this out. The League ordered the two sides to stop fighting and blamed the problem on Greece, giving it a 45,000 pound fine.

    League of Nations Manchuria
    When Japan was looking for new land resources to capatilize from they looked towards the closest piece of land they could find, Manchuria. They sent in a force to take control of the land so that Japan could relieve its large population and get more resources. The League was brought in, to stop the Japanese advance and allow Manchuria to be ruled independently. However Japan did not listen and instead resigned from the League and launched a fullscale attack. This was a failure for the League.

    The United Nations had built itself after WW II, because many country leaders agreed that war like this shouldn't happen again. Also because the Lague of Nations had failed in its goal for worldpeace, the United Nations would take over its goal and take on its responsibilities. Thus the United Nations was created.

    International Monetary Fund Established
    The international Monetary fund was established post WW II and was created to help with the the reconstruction of the worlds payment and stabilize the exchange rates between countries. This was done because after the war lots of countries were having problems with money because everyone had spent so much on the war. This organization has got a simple goal, but it is hard to acheive.

    The League of Nations was disbanded after World War II because they had failed at their goals to achieve world peace. The League of Nations had been trying to stop wars and terror of the people of the world, they finally failed and realized their failure at their goals. The League then fell apart and gave up its responsibilites to the newly formed United Nations.

    In 1948 the universal human rights document was created and declared around the world on 1948. It allowed humans no matter where they are in the universe to have these rights and to never have them taken away from them. This was crucial to many people around the world because there has been lots of history of slavery and other such crimes. This document has allowed these people rights which is all they need.

    There had been many talks that the United Nations wouldn't be able to do much in the grand schem of things. It was considered useless and some people wanted to get their countries out of it. For example in the US the John Birch Society began a campaign to get the US out of the UN. This was caused some upset with the United Nations.

    There have been big talks with Japan and they have eventually agreed up breaking down many barriers and tariffs of trade that is a part of the Japanese trade. This included talks about import licences and subsidies. This agreement with Japan and other countries gave out about 300 billion dollars worth of money.

    Jordan was a struggling country in the Middle East. They had many issues with their economy, and had little way to grow or earn money. So they turned to the IMF for help and in 1989 they got a loan from the IMF and their economy was forced to reform. This was a major success for the IMF because since they had managed to pull a bad economy away from the brink and save them.

    In 1990 there were massive talks between countries about the trading between them. This round of talks and trading has allowed many developing countries to trade textiles and other such materials between countries. There was also major reductions with the agricultural subsidies.

    Mexico had been facing many problems with its economy because was facing inflation. Many people weren't using the "peso" anymore and that causes major problems for Mexico. They also had government issues with assassinations happening alot. Eventually the situation got so bad that they qualified for IMF help. The IMF gave Mexico 40 billion dollars injection to mexico, and they helped mexico come back from their bad economy.

    The World Trade Organization with the help of international trade. The WTO helps with different countries trade with eachother and formalize the transfer of goods and money. This was done because with so much trade going in the world nowadays, people decided that they needed an organization to help formalize these agreements and get things done.

    The United Nations has helped with the creation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1968. It declared that countries who signed this treaty would stop the spread of nuclear weapons from around the world. This meant that there would be less chance of a nuclear war which would be quite bad for everyone. This treaty has shown that the United Nations is able to help maintain the peace in the world.

    The WTO had some big talks with the different countries around the world, and they created an agreement that was talking about the manufactored services around the world. These were arranged into the Doha Development Agenda. This created around 4.9 billion dollars worth of trade to many countries around the world. This was a success for the IMF

    The World Trade Orgnization has been a really big influence with the trade around the world. It regulates almost 90% of all the trade around the world and they have had a big impact on the way we trade. The WTO has got a peak number of members in 2004 with over 148 countries a member of it.

    With US deep in debt, becuase of the house hold bubble bursting. The IMF had created a plan to help these homeowners with their houshold. This plan was to modify their mortages and give them a better chance of getting out of debt. However this package has failed because although the IMF have tried to fix the problem they couldn't solve the amount of debt Americans are in.

    One of the biggest failures for the United Nations, is the protection and nourishment of the global environment. The UN has done nothing to get countries to cut down on greenhouse gases and reduce pollution. This has led to severe environmental damage around the world and people are disappointed that the UN has not been able to do anything about it.

    Since the recession that has hit the globe in 2009, all countries have been feeling the impact that it has had on their respective economies. However Poland has been able to escape due their large economy and large domestic demand. The IMF has allowed the Polish people to get a loan from them if they need it, and they did not the cash for the crash.
