After Britain went into deep debt due to the war, they decided to give back India. The dillema however was whether or not the power should go to the Hindus or Muslims, and a four day riot between the two broke out. -

India gains indepencance from Britain and partition splits the Muslims and Hindus into West Pakistan and East Pakistan.
