    Indian soldiers heard rumors about British weapons. The rumors offended the Indians’ religious feelings. The British handled the situation badly. The Indian soldiers rebelled. It lasted for It failed because the Indians were divided into Muslims and Hindus because they didn't trust each other.

    A group was formed to fight for the Independence from the British. They were proclaiming self-government and even though Indians and Muslims didn’t get along they united to fight for their independence.

    Under General Dyer, British troops slaughtered Indian protesters.

  • Civil Disobedience

    The Congress Party declared a civil disobedience “foundation” later led by Gandhi to weaken the British government and economic power in India. British arrested thousands of Indians because of the disobedience during strikes. Even though Gandhi pleaded for non-violence the protests often became riots and many people were killed.
  • Salt March

    Salt March
    British laws were created which said that Indians could not buy salt for anyone else but the government, they even had to pay taxes for it. Gandhi and his followers refused to do so, they walked about 240 miles in a peaceful protest to the seacoast. There they collected their own salt buy letting salt water evaporate. This protest was called The Salt March.
