Independence to Establishment

  • Introduction

    In my timeline I covered events spanning from 1765 to 1789. The events that are on the timeline are the events that I feel were some of the most important events within this time period. I find this time period very interesting especially since a lot of this is being questioned with our new current president.
  • Start of The American Revolution

    Start of The American Revolution
    The American Revolution was a major uprising of colonists from Thirteen Colonies in America. This uprising took place after the British put many trade laws in place and imposed many restrictions on colonists lives. The revolution was a war between Americans and the British. Colonists got to a point of where they were sick of being treated so poorly so they rose up to fight for the right to be an independent country.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    The Battle of Bunker Hill was a battle that took place during the American Revolution. Colonists in Boston found out that the British were planning to occupy the hills around Boston. Once news of this spread 1000 American colonists went an occupied the hills surrounding Boston to fight off the British.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    A meeting took place at the Pennsylvania State House in Philidelphia to declare that all Thirteen Colonies in the United States of America had defeated the Kingdom of Great Britain. The United States declared independence from the British which was a big deal as America would no longer be under British Rule.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga was a major turning point for the American Revolution. At this point in the war 5,895 British and Hessian troops surrendered with their weapons as they had already lost 86% of their troops.
  • End of the American Revolution

    End of the American Revolution
    The American Revolution ended in 1783 when a peace treaty was signed with Great Britain
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    This rebellion was led by American Revolution Veteran Daniel Shay. Shay led four thousand rebels in an uprising to protest against economic and civil rights injustices. This all happened right after the major victory of the American Revolution.
  • Establishment of the U.S. Constitution

    Establishment of the U.S. Constitution
    The U.S. Constitution established the national government of the United States of America. The Constitution was created to put in place fundamental laws and to protect certain and basic rights of citizens.
  • First National Election

    From December 15th, 1788 to January 10th, 1789 the First Election was held. People voted for state electors as well as for the President of the United States. It was expected that George Washington would become president and so he did.
