  • Revolutionary War

    Americans became frustrated when the British Parliament started imposing many acts on the citizens. In 1776 the US declared independence. By 1783 the Treaty of Paris gave independence to the 13th colonies and was recognized by Great Britain and the war ended.
  • War of 1812

    In 1812 the US declared war on Britain. The British then created a blockade on the American coast. By 1814 the war had ended by the Treaty of Ghent.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexico did not want to recongnize that Texas was not apart of thier territory anymore. by 1846 the Mexicans had attacked the US troops and Congress then declared war on Mexico. The war ended by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.
  • American Civil War

    It was fought by 11 southern states. President Lincoln and the Republican Party were against the expansion of slavery. It is known as the deadliest war in history. The war then ended the practice of slavery.
  • Spanish-American War

    The Spanish declared war on the US because the US supported the Cuban struggle for independence. The war ended by the Treaty of Paris.
  • World War I

    This war was fought between the Allied Powers. The war ended with the victory of the Allied Powers in 1919 and the New nations were formed.
  • World War II

    This war was fought between the Axis Powers which included Germany, Italy, Japan and the Allies. Warsaw Pact and the NATO was created and the Cold war began shortly after. The war end in 1945.
  • Korean War

    North Korea invaded South Korea which caused the nations that were allied with the US to intervene on behalf of the South. The conflict ended in 1953.
  • Vietnam War

    This war was fought between the communist forces. There were about 58,000 dead and about 300,000 wounded. The war ended in 1975.
  • Gulf War

    The war was fought between Irag and the forces of 34 nations that was authorized by the UN shortly after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.. The war ended and Kuwait was freed. The war had ended in 1991.
