    Ghandi impacted the Indian Independence Movement.
  • Champaran Campaign

    Champaran Campaign
    Gandhi wanted people to put emphasis on the mistreatment of the indigos workers.
  • End of World WarⅠ

    End of World WarⅠ
    Indians enlisted in the British army. The British were going to give them freedom for the help in the war. After the war, the British took back that promise. The nationalist movement grew from there.
  • Rowlatt Acts

    Rowlatt Acts
    The British created the Rowlatt Acts enabling the government to put innocent protesters in jail without a trial. This law was offensive to Western-educated Indians because their rights were degraded.
  • Amritsar Massacre

    Amritsar Massacre
    Muslims and Hindus gathered together in fast, prayer and political meetings against the Rowlatt Acts. As a result, the British were intimidated and opened fire on the people. 400 Indians were killed and 1,200 were injured.
  • The Non-Cooperation Movement

    The Non-Cooperation Movement
    Ghandi led a nonviolence movement involving boycotts of councils, courts, schools and cloth.
  • The Salt March

    Indians peacefully marched to the seacoast to create their own salt. This was an act of defiance against the British Salt Acts which stated that Indians could only buy salt from the government (along with buying a sales tax).

    The act was intended to give some rights and Indian involvement in the government but no Indians were present to help create the act.
  • Quit India Movement

    This movement was a civil disobediance. Gandhi issued the movement to bargan the independence of India.

    India finally becomes independent from the British!
