    Birth of Daniel Boone
    Daniel Boone was born in Pennsylvania on November 2, 1734. He was the sixth child to Sarah and Squire Boone. His parents were both Quakers, therefore he was raised as one.
  • The French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War
    1755 was the start of the French and Indian War. The English settlers, and Daniel Boone's family, fought against their allies, the French and tribes of Indians. During a battle that happened in today's Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania, Daniel was a wagon driver with the English army. In this war the English were defeated, but Daniel managed to escape.
  • Marriage of Daniel and Rebecca

    Marriage of Daniel and Rebecca
    At the age 22, Daniel and Rebecca settled in Rowan County in North Carolina. Rebecca gave birth to 10 children with Daniel. Their first child was born in 1757 and the last in 1781.

    Leading about 30 men, Daniel Boone traveled through the Cumberland Gap into Kentucky. Daniel and his men "blazed" the trail or cut through the forest with axes.Fort Boonesborough was founded to be protection from the Shawnee attacks.

    While making salt outside the fort, Boone and some of his men were captured by the Shawnee. Because he was captured, he lived with the tribe from February to June. Daniel had over heard the tribe planning to attack Boonesborough so he escaped to warn his men. His wife and children had later returned to North Carolina and Boone followed.

    During this time period, Missouri was owned by the Spanish. Boone and his family were invited by the Spanish governor to live there. The governor then preceded to give him a huge plot of land and was given the opportunity to be a judge or a military leader.

    In 1812, a war began. Boone volunteered for this war out of great leadership. Boone was sadly turned down from his offer because of his age, he was 78 years old.
  • Boone's wife dies

    In the year of 1813 Rebecca began to obtain an illness. At the age of 74, Rebecca died in her daughter Jemima's house. Rebecca was buried in the Bryan Family Cemetery overlooking the Missouri River.

    In 1815 Congress and the president, James Monroe and his family granted Boone land. He was awarded the same amount of land that was received by him in missouri by the spanish. After receiving this land, Boone sold most of it to pay off debts he still had in Kentucky.
  • Traveling further than before

    Traveling further than before
    In 1816 Boone set off on a journey to travel further than he had ever before. He traveled further west to explore parts of Kansas and Nebraska. After deciding this traveling life is the life for him, he keeps with it for a few years.

    In 1817, Boone goes on his final hunt. In 1750 Daniel had gone on his first real "long hunt". He was around the age of 83 on his final mission.
  • Daniel Boone Dies

    Daniel Boone Dies
    On September 26, 1820 the great explorer Daniel Boone passes away. His cause of death was indigestion. Daniel had died close to two months before his birthday.
