    Rise of Facist Dictators in Europe
    The First real Fascist Dictator was Benito Mussolini took over the power of the Italian Government and Instead put in a Fascist Dictatorship. Under this dictatorship Mussolini was worshipped as a god and extreme Nationalism was promoted. In Germany in 1934 Hitler becomes Fuhrer and takes total control of Germany. Hitler took over Germany by creating a working nation and the people had full support of Hitler
  • Japanese Agression in Pacific

    Japanese Agression in Pacific
    n 1931 the Japanese Empire felt that they should have an equal size empire as western powers. This led to Japan taking over Manchuria. When the League of Nations sanctioned this act, the Japanese simply left. The Japanese later went on to takeover most of China.

    Anschluss
    Anschluss is Hitler's Plan to invade Austria. In this plan Hitler puts Nazi members in Cabinet Positions. In doing this Hitler upsets the Austrian Leader. Hitler then sent an Army and the Austrian Leader stepped down from power and Hitler took control of Austria

    The Munich Conference
    The Munich Conference was a meeting of European Powers. Hitler argued that he wanted part of Checkoslovakia, Sudtenland. He argued this because there were 3 million germans that lived there. He also said that after this land was gained, he would stop gaining land. The British and French gave into the appeasment and Sudtenland was given to Germany without a fight.

    The Nazi-Soviet Pact
    Hitler and Stalin agreed in the Nazi-Soviet Pact to not fight and to takeover Poland together. Hitler and Stalin hated each other and the Pact was mostly just for mutual need. Hitler did this as a strategic move so that in the upcoming war Hitler would not be fighting The allies and the Soviet Union

    Phony War
    War was declared when Hitler invaded Poland, causing Britain and France to go to war. In the winter of 1940 French British troops waited for German soldiers to attack. The Reporters called this time "Phony War". In April of 1940 Hitler launched the Blitzkrieg which battered down most countries of Europe.
  • Miracle at Dunkirk

    Miracle at Dunkirk
    When Hitler launched the Blitzkrieg, British forces in Europe all retreated to the Beaches of Dunkirk and Ostend where only the English Channel seperated them from home. Here the British Navy sent a wild rescue mission in which amazingly 300,000 soldiers were saved. Thus the actions that took place here are called the Miracle at Dunkirk

    In a very short amount of time, France was overan by the German offensive known as the Blitzkrieg. At this time Hitler decided to take revenge on Germany for what happened during World War I. On June 22nd of 1940 Hitler forced French officials to sign the surrender documents in the same railcar that the armistice for World War I was signed in.

    When most of Europe was under Hitler's control, Hitler set his eyes on Britain. Hitler started his invasion of Britain by sending in massive bombings. The British under Winston Churchill were able to withstand. Even though the British had heavy losses they were still able to resist

    Hitler sets up concentration camps to exterminate all jewish people and people deemed "not suited for life". This begins the event know as the Holocaust in which 11 million people were murdered.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    In September of 1941 Hitler made what is considered one of the most stupidest decisions of World War II, to invade the Soviet Union. The Russians quickly lost land as the Germans got closer to reaching Moscow but when the winter of 1941 came the Germans found themselves inadequate to survive in cold temperatures. Also the 2 and 1/2 year siege of Leningrad happened, in which the Germans could not takeover Leningrad. Hitler's armies suffered massive losses all for an angry Soviet Union.

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    On early morning of December 7th 1941, the Japanese Air Force launched a massive attack on U.S. Naval Base. In this attack over 2,000 Americans were killed and some of the boats were sunk and damaged. The Japanese plan was to weaken the United States Navy, but instead this angered many Americans and forced America into the war

    Battle of the Atlantic
    In this long running military campaign over control of the Atlantic Ocean, many British and American trade ships were destroyed by German U-Boats. The Americans and British used convoys to get supplies and troops over to Europe in 1941 when the U.S. joined the war. This continued until Germany's defeat in 1945

    Battle of Midway
    In a major Allied victory the U.S. turned the tide of the Pacific. In a battle for Midway Atoll, a small naval base, the U,S, won a major Naval Battle. This turned the tide in the Pacific and ever since this battle the U.S. has been on the offensive
  • Battle of El Alamein

    Battle of El Alamein
    In July Germany under Erwin Rommel led a campaign into Egypt which resulted in the Battle of El Alamein. In the First Battle both sides were at a stalemate however the allies had a victory but, were unable to push the Nazis out of Egypt. During the Second Battle the Allies launched an Offensive and the Germans were kicked out of Egypt. This is considered the turning point in the War, this was also the first major offensive since the start of the war.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Germans attacked Stalingrad in a very bloody siege. Stalingrad was taken by the Germans and until February 2nd 1943, the Soviets had counter offensives. There was massive close quarter combat and massive bombing of stalingrad. This made the city literally rubble
  • Invasion of Italy

    Invasion of Italy
    On this date Allied soldiers landed at Salerno and suprise attacked Italy. At first the Germans and Americans were at a stalemate but eventually Germany withdrew at the sight of Aircraft and Naval Bombardments. The Americans then over took the Italian military. The Allies then held Southern Italy and had a stalemate with Germany and Italy in Northern Italy and the Americans in Southern Italy.

    D Day
    On this date the U.S. Military launched the Normandy Beach Landings where the U.S. sent soldiers to begin in an invasion of Germany. This attack happened with an airborne assault in which soldiers were parachuted behind enemy lines and an amphibious assault in which soldiers stormed beaches
  • The Battle of Berlin

    The Battle of Berlin
    In 1945 the Soviet Union attacked Berlin, Germany. The Soviets encircled Berlin and used massive bombardments to weaken the city before they stormed it. Upon hearing this news Hitler committs suicide. This is the last major offensive of the Germany Campaign
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    During this battle the U.S. took over the Island of Okinawa in and put in an airforce base. The battle started with a massive Naval Bombardment and resulted in the U.S. The soldiers then stormed the Island. This victory brought a quicker end to the war by now providing easy access to an airforce in Japan

    Nazis Defeated
    After losing the Battle of Berlin the Nazis surrendered when Hitler committed suicide. This marked the end of the War in Europe but the war in Japan continued. On May 7th a surrender document was signed.
  • Atomic Weapons

    Throughout the war the U.S. had scientists focused on making the atomic bomb, a bomb that will utterly destroy everything. On August of 1945 the U.S. developed an Atomic Weapon and told the Japanese to surrender or face total destruction. The Japanese did not surrender and 2 atomic bombs, one in Hiroshima and 1 in Nagasaki brought an end to the war

    Surrender of Japan
    When the Japanese were bombed by the Atomic Bomb they quickly surrendered knowing that the U.S. has the capability to destroy them. Fearing destruction the Japanese surrendered on August 15th 1945 and signed a surrender document on September 2nd 1945
  • United Nations

    United Nations
    After World War II many of the countries set up the United Nations in an effort to make sure a World War III does not happen. Improving on the Failures of the League of Nations, the United Nations focuses on helping 3rd world countries and other disputes between countries.
