Cuneiform makes presence
In ancient city-state Uruk (current day Iraq) a group of Sumerian people known as scribes began to make writing on soft clay tablets using a stylus made of wood. The scribes would make marks and symbols on the tablets that represented words. After years of translating the tablets, historians were able to identify transactions, stories (i.e. Gilgamesh) and what life was like for the ancient city-state. -
2600 BCE
The Kesh Temple Hymn
The Kesh Hymns were found in 1909 in the city of Nippur.Often referred as the "Nintud: The creation of man and woman". This collection of ancient hymns tells the story of the creation of the world and people. The creation story was very popular among early civilizations. Every culture has a creation story and all are different but also similar in nature.
The hymns are split into 8 different stories in houses. Each ends with the same question, "Who has ever seen anyone as great as lady Nintud?". -

The Egyptian writings
As many know the Egyptians used hieroglyphics to write. Hieroglyphics was a lot like cuneiform. Both of these ancient writings used symbols to express words. The Book of the Dead is the most common writing in hieroglyphics. The book is a compilation of spells that are used to get into the afterlife. This book was commonly found in coffins and burial chambers of the dead. Due to how many years the book was used the words inside changed with changing of priests and heads of power. -

The Atharvaveda
The Atharvaveda is a Hindu religious writing dating back to 1200 BCE India. Unlike other counterpart Veda writings the Atharvaveda has a literal translation. The title translates to "The producers of everyday life". Through 6,000 mantras and 730 hymns we discovered accident medicine and medical practices. This discovery was evidence of religious medical practice. Today the Atheravada is still used and continues to have impacts on Hinduism. -

First Novel
In Japan poetry was very popular. The expression of feelings finally had made it into writings. Women in Japan found it easily to relate to these poets in feelings and emotions. This inspired Murasaki Shikibu to write a novel. Through her emtional but powerful writing skills she told the story of a bachelor named Genji and his many romances against the Japanese court society (Tale of Genji) -

The Bible is completed and is being reproduced but...
Christianity as now spread to all of Europe and every one wants a copy of the Bible! However the interpretations began to differ between leaders and their people. Inspiring Martin Luther to post his writing of rules on a church door to express his feelings and wants from the church. Books of science and nature appear during this time of well letting people expand into new ideas and learn about different places overseas or in their imaginations. As people began to publish their own works. -
The Radio
The radio would replace newspapers, books and magazines. The radio made its debut in 1916 and it still used today. The radio reported news, soap operas and children's shows like The Lone Ranger. -

The glowing box that talks
The television. Invented in 1926. The TV took over radio (although its still used today) and brought all those things to life. Newspapers and magazines became even less popular with news shows, 24/7 coverage, (in the 90's) and children's broadcasting with shows like School House Rock and Gilligan's island.
