The Last Supper

Jesus gives bread and wine to his disciples, telling them it is his body and blood. This is this first instance of bread and wine being distributed as Jesus' blood and body.

Paul sends a letter to the Corithians detailing the events of a eucharist taking place. The eurhcarist is the ritual that Christians drink wine and eat bread, which they believe the wine to be his blood and the bread to be his body.

Early Celebrations of Eucharist [55-300]

Early celebrations of the eucharist took place in the living rooms of houses, calling them 'church houses'. They eat bread and drank wine as Jesus commanded them to.

The Eucharist in Basilicas

When the Christian faith was at peace and more accepted they began to build basilicas based on Roman courts, and held eucharist ceremonies in them.

Eucharist in the Middle Ages

Eucharist become less common among people, becoming more like spectators due to feeling unworthy. Children began to start receiving their Eucharist at 12-14 instead of any time. Many adults began to receive eucharist only once a year.

Modern Eucharist [1900's-2000's]

Eucharist became more common, much more of a weekly thing. They were mostly held in town churches for common folk. We now have symbols such as wine, bread and the cross.
