    This law required school-aged children between 5 and 18 to attend public school. Prior to this law children with disabilities were not given the right to attend school. It was later deemed unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

    Brown vs Education
    A precedent was demonstrated when the Supreme Court of the United States deemed it unconstitutional to have separate public schools for blacks and whites. This ruling was a step in the right direction for students with disabilities.
