    This court case to influence special education ended up addressing racial segregation. In Brown v. Board of Education , it was decided that segregation on the basis of race violated equal educational opportunity. Which is one step toward inclusivity.
  • Handicapped Children's Early Education Assistance Act

    Handicapped Children's Early Education Assistance Act
    This was the first official legislation act to address children with disabilities exclusively. This was a fight for their right to education. All of the funds went to early education programs and preschools.

    This act includes not only school age children but adults as well. Section 504 stands against exclusion of students from programs because of lack of services. It protects students who are not eligible for services through IDEA yet still have some physical or mental impairments.

    There are over 27,000 CEC members around the world. This includes college students studying to be teachers, current teachers, professors, parents, and others working with children and adults with disabilities. They share ideas and brainstorm ways to help their cause.
  • Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD)

    Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD)
    This group of special education advocates have a 2020 conference coming up. They provide free online resources for students with disabilities. Truly a moving cause.
