    Snapchat, the $15 billion app, first knows as "Pictaboo", was launched. Snapchat innovated a knew way to chat with your friends using pictures with a time limit. Starting with only 127 users, the app has since exploded in popularity and is used by world-wide. Link text

    The Vine app was launched. Vine introduced users with new aspects of video sharing. Despite having a six-second time limit, users were able to take and edit videos in the application, as well as create stop-motion videos due to one having to hold the record button through the duration of filming. 8 months after launching, the app was bought-out by Twitter for $30,000,000.     After 3 years in the hands of Twitter, the Vine app was deactivated. With Instagram introducing video, Vine struggled to keep up in order to set itself apart from the competition. This created many issues, and inevitably resulted in the shut down of many user's favorite video-sharing app. Link text
